Job Title: Fielder I, II, III

Department: Engineering 

Reports To: Field Manager/Project Manager/Director of Engineering 

Employment Status: Non-exempt, Hourly 

Job Summary: 

The position of Engineering Fielder is responsible for conducting field surveys, locates, preparing technical documents, and monitoring systems while utilizing hardware or software necessary to complete tasks. An Engineering Fielder  will be capable of identifying, troubleshooting, and maintaining multiple projects at one time, whether working alone or as part of a team. 

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to): 

• Working on small projects of low complexity. Refer to Exhibit A for Definitions on project sizing descriptions.
• Maintaining a detailed photo log. 
• Measuring field distances using measuring wheel, tape, etc. 
• Measuring heights of attachments on utility poles utilizing height stick. 
• Operating Locator and Systems accompanying locators 
• Create pole diagrams of existing conditions/attachments/anchors/brand, etc. 
• Clean and maintain all company vehicles and equipment assigned for use. 
• Lifting 50+ lbs. 
• Walking for long periods and distances outdoors on various terrain, which may include alongside heavily trafficked highways/roadways. 
• Working outside in all-weather types/conditions. 
• Periodically working extended days (10 – 14 hours) based on project need. 
• Other relevant duties as assigned. 

Required Skills & Qualifications:  

   General 

• High school or equivalent education 
• Valid Driver’s License 
• Subject to pre-employment drug test and MVR (Motor Vehicle Records) Report. 
• Ability to manage many projects as well as capably prioritize projects based on deadlines and importance. 
• Ability to operate all equipment safely and productively. 
• Knowledge and understanding of reading drawings and ability to follow specifications. 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with peers, leadership, and clients. 
• Self-motivated with superior time management. 
• Function effectively as an integral part of a team. 
• Must be able to meet physical demands of the position. 
• All work is performed at remote locations; driving and sitting are required. 
• All work is outdoors and subject to inclement weather conditions. 
• Ability to stand and walk lengthy distances (1+ miles) over uneven terrain in all weather conditions. 
• Work safely in all conditions. 
• Lift and/or move 50 to 150 lbs. 
• Must be available to travel overnight to various sites as required. 

   Technical 

• Translating field measurements to design plans with accuracy. 
• Drawing schematics of locates with stationing, field measurements, and existing landmarks shown. 
• Utilizing locate equipment and other advanced survey tools. 
• Using telephone test set/butt set verifying active service, dial tone, etc. 
• Civil Survey knowledge, ability to read civil plans, cross-sections, profiles for general understanding. 
• Understanding and identifying cables in pedestals, SAI, coolpeds, handholes, manholes, etc. 
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft® Office programs. 

Desired Skills & Qualifications: 

• 0-8- years of fielding experience.
